This lighthouse painting carries a personal story. A friend asked me to paint him a Great Lakes lighthouse, and I chose the historic Crisp Point Light on Lake Superior. I don’t usually work from photos I didn’t take myself, but this image is iconic and widely published — and in this case, it became the source for a gift.
The result was a painting that exceeded both our expectations. Though my friend originally intended to hang it in his study, he told me it was too beautiful to be tucked away — so it now hangs proudly in his living room.
Soft evening light washes across the lake and sky, with the white tower and red-roofed keeper’s house standing against a backdrop of trees and shoreline rock.
