This painting captures another perspective on Miller Woods Pond, a place that continues to inspire me with its shifting moods and hidden complexities. What drew me here was the intricate tangle of tree limbs, some arching boldly across the water, others dissolving gently into their reflections on the pond’s still surface.
In the foreground, I introduced a cluster of cattails. Their playful, upright forms feel almost like quiet witnesses to the scene, grounding the composition while adding a touch of whimsy. The layering of real and reflected, tangled and serene, creates a balance that reflects the pond’s character — a place of both quiet order and natural chaos.
