This shallow stream runs along the road on the drive out to the coast. What drew me in were the scattered stones — some catching the light above the water, others glowing softly beneath the surface. The water is clear enough to show the warm, earthy colors of the submerged stones, while the exposed rocks create a quiet rhythm across the creekbed.
I was especially taken by the long fallen log that extends beneath the water, partly visible and partly hidden. The interplay of flowing water, shifting reflections, and the geometry of the stones gave the scene a calm presence that I wanted to explore in paint.
*Personal Note:* I’ve passed this stream many times, but on this day the stones seemed almost arranged — like a natural pattern waiting to be noticed. It reminded me that some subjects only reveal themselves when you slow down.
