Wall Creek Toward the Lake

Acrylic on canvas, 16×20, $350

This view of Wall Creek looks downstream toward Haag Reservoir, which is hidden just beyond the tree line. The creek emerges from beneath the road where I was standing and winds through a thicket of dense Oregon greenery. In this piece, the focus is on the overwhelming presence of the vegetation — layers of green that nearly swallow the stream. The distant forest and subtle lighting create a quiet tension between enclosure and openness.

Personal Note: I painted this piece after a long walk near the reservoir. The light was flat that day, but I was struck by the softness of the scene. What’s funny is that in person, you could barely tell there was a creek at all — it was like nature had tried to erase it. That’s what made me want to preserve it in paint.
